Katharina Hathaway, MD, joins Team at the Wound Care Center® at
HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital
Birmingham, Ala. (June 12, 2015) – Katharina Hathaway, MD has joined the team at the Wound Care Center at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.
Dr. Hathaway will help lead a team of wound care specialists at the Center, which offers leading-edge treatments including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure therapies, bioengineered tissues, and biosynthetics to reintroduce the body's innate ability to heal.
Dr. Hathaway received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center.
In joining the Wound Care Center at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, a member of the Healogics network, Dr. Hathaway will collaborate with a network of academic medical centers, hospitals and thousands of professionals committed to advancing wound healing by creating, sharing, and activating wound prevention and care expertise.
Dr. Hathaway is board certified in family medicine. She is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Society, American Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Academy of Family Physicians and the Texas Public Health Association.
Chronic wounds affect more than 8 million people in the U.S. and the incidence is rising fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy.
