HEALOGICS, INC. AWARDED WOUND CARE MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATION
FROM THE JOINT COMMISSION
Jacksonville, Fla. (May 18, 2015) - Healogics today announced that it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Wound Care Management Certification. The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
An estimated 6.7 million people currently live with chronic wounds and that number is expected to grow more than two percent during the next decade. Untreated chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possible amputation of the affected limb. Advanced wound care can help prevent amputation and improve quality outcomes.
Established in 2002 and awarded for a two-year period, The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification evaluates clinical programs across the continuum of care and addresses three core areas:
• Compliance with consensus-based national standards;
• Effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and
• An organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.
"Healogics has thoroughly demonstrated a high level of care for patients with chronic wounds,” said Wendi J. Roberts, RN, executive director, Certification Programs, The Joint Commission. “We commend Healogics for becoming a leader in advanced wound care, potentially providing a higher standard of service for chronic wound patients in its community.”
"The Gold Seal of Approval for Wound Care Management is a great honor to receive and showcases our commitment to the highest quality of patient care,” added Jeff Nelson, Healogics CEO. “This distinction will help us continue to heal as many people as possible by the best means available.”
