How Healogics Wound Care Centers® are Responding to COVID-19
Written by Carolyn Shinn, Vice President, Clinical and Quality Process Excellence at Healogics.
There is nothing more important to Healogics than your health and safety. As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, Healogics is working closely with our hospital partners to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and staff. Our Wound Care Centers® all over the country have made changes for those being seen in our Centers during this public health crisis. We are working to keep the environment safe for everyone.
We realize some of our patients may be unable to come to the Wound Center for an appointment or may feel uneasy about leaving their home. For that reason, many of our programs, especially those in the hardest hit areas, are now conducting telehealth visits. This allows our patients to “see” a wound care provider to receive the care and support they need for their wound. All from the comfort of their own home.
Our Case Managers are making every effort to stay connected with our patients as often as possible. They understand that needs may have changed as a result of COVID.
If you are suffering from a wound that will not heal, the sooner you seek care from a wound care specialist, the more likely the wound will go on to heal. The longer you go without care, the risk of serious complications goes up. A complication could mean a visit to the emergency room or a hospital admission. Now more than ever, hospitals, physicians and nurses are overwhelmed with caring for patients with the coronavirus. For this reason, the majority of our Wound Care Centers have remained open during the pandemic. We want to ensure our patients get the care they need and reduce the risk of being hospitalized for their wound.
We want to assure you that our doctors and nurses are doing everything they can to protect you. They will do everything in their power to get you started on the road to recovery and assist you throughout your healing journey.
If you have any concerns or questions before coming to a Healogics Wound Care center, please contact your Center.
